As dog lovers and dog owners, we have experienced first hand the incredible healing power of our furry, four-legged friends. Without fail, just being with them automatically lifts our mood and relieves our stressful worries of the day.
Dog therapy is a way for people in stressful, lonely or traumatic situations to share in these positive benefits.
Every week, we invite clients and their dogs to pay it forward, by visiting local retirement homes to spread cheer and comfort to their residents, while also giving the dogs the opportunity to practice their obedience and socialization skills in new environments.
CURRENT SCHEDULE: Wednesdays - 10am at Hillsborough Senior Assisted Living - 11902 Central Avenue, Chino, CA 91710
*To participate: call Tom Fisher at (909) 680-8245
Dogs with a friendly nature and proper obedience training are great candidates for working as therapy animals in various capacities such as emotional support dogs, therapy dogs and certified service dogs.
Most commonly, a therapy dog is a dog who is trained to provide comfort and accompany patients during hospital visits or those living or temporarily residing in retirement homes, nursing homes, and hospices, to name a few places. They also help comfort those with learning difficulties or people experiencing stressful situations such as natural disasters.
In this specialized one-on-one training, we will guide you through the requirements to get certified as a working therapy dog, depending on your specific needs and goals.
